SEOUL, Korea (WKBL): Newcomers to the WKBL this season One FX met with mixed success this week in the 2012-13 WKBL Regular Season action. On Tuesday, the debutants posted the first win in the history of the team beating former Samsung Life Bichumi 61-52, but a day later fell to six-time defending champions Shinhan Bank S-Birds 61-75.
S-Birds thus extended their lead in the standings even as Woori Hansae moved into sole No 2 position with a 69-59 win against KB Stars.
Lee Youn-hoa and Choi Yoon-Ah each scored 16 points to lead S-Birds’ win against One FX. Kang Young-suk (pic above) had an impressive game on both ends of the floor pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds to go with her 10 points as did Kim Danbi with a dozen points and 10 rebounds.
Kim Ji-hyun paced One FX with 16 points.
A day earlier, international Kim Jung-eun poured in a game-high 25 points, in a 11/15 shooting on the paint, to lead One FX’s first ever win. Heo Yun-ha had 13 points.
Hong Boram was the only player to score in the double-digit for Bichumi with 12 points.
Woori Hansae used only seven players in their game against KB Stars, but that was good enough.
Park Hye-jin had an 11/24 field shooting for her game-high 29 points along with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block to lead Woori’s charge.
Lim Young-hui contributed 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Jung Sun-hwa had 17 points and 9 rebounds for KB Stars with veteran Beon Yeon-ha adding 14 points.
