MNBL: Malaysia Dragons at the vanguard at the end of first circuit

·         Westport Malaysia Dragongs 3-1

·         Sarawak Fire Horse 2-1

·         Farmochem 2-1

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (MNBL / MABA): Westport Malaysia Dragons, Malaysia’s only representative in the Asean Basketball League, won three out of their four games to finish on top the standings at the end of the MNBL first circuit of games during the last weekend.

Malaysia Dragons won Crouching Tiger 90-68 in their opening game, but suffered a 93-94 reverse against Penang Stallions Resort in their next. The Dragons regained their winning touch beating Farmochem 82-79 before winding up their circuit engagements with a Sarawak Fire Horse 72-71.

“We have had some very close games so far, but we have won most of them,” said Dragon coach Ariel Vanguardia.

“I am quite happy with the way hoe the team handled the pressure situations. We have work to do on our defense and we are on it,” he said looking ahead at the second circuit which will be played at Penang from Nov 2-4.

Sarawak Fire Horse and Farmcochem are tied at the second spot, the former ahead on goal differential.

Farmchochem had wins against Penang Stallions Resort (81-75) and Crouching Tiger (72-65) apart from the defeat to the Dragons.

Fire Horse who also lost to the Dragons defeated Penang Stallions 58-57 and Crouching Tiger 103-83.
