ASTANA, Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan D1 women’s League): Defending champions Irtysh Pavlodar shrugged off their opening round defeat – to BK Almaty – winning both the games of Round 2 against last year’s runners-up Astana Tigers in the 2012-13 Kazakhstan women’s D1 League during the past weekend.
Kazakhstan international Anna Vinokurova (pic above) shared the scoring honors with Zuldys Baydusenova with 16 points each to lead Irtysh to a 77-71 win in the first game. Tamara Seregina added 15 points.
Oksana Kisilova’s double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds paced the Tigers.
Baydusenova was in the forefront of Irtysh’s 71-64 win in the return game with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Russian guard Angelina Yuskova contributed 13 points.
Anastassiya Alishauskaite’s 15 points was the highest for Astana.
