KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (MABA / MNBL): Segamat Basketball Association held on to their early lead and overcame a late fourth quarter rally by KL Bin Puri for a 60-51 win in the final of the 2012-13 MNBL for women at the MABA Stadium on Sunday.
Segamat raced ahead 14-8 in the first ten minutes and built to a 26-17 lead at the end of the first half. The third quarter saw Segamat hold their position which kept them in good stead despite Bina Puri outscoring them 15-13 in the final 10 minutes.
Chen Hui Jing, who was voted as the MVP of the Finals, had 18 points in an 8/14 shooting show along with 4 rebounds and 1 steal to lead Segamat’s win.
Eugene Teng’s 23 points and 8 rebounds – both game-highs – went in vain for Bina Puri.
