NeBA’s scholarship program continues for the sixth year
 

KATHMANDU, Nepal (NeBA): Six years ago, the Nepal Basketball Association launched an ambitious program of providing scholarships to young and upcoming basketball players in order to boost ‘Catch them Young’ priniciple to develop basketball in the Himalayan nation.

This year 30 students have been selected for the program, from 250 players who appeared for selection, and will be provided full scholarships in colleges in Nepal besides two and half months of intensive basketball training.

“In these six years, the NeBA talent hunt program is one of the much awaited and productive program which is organized annually targeted to the SLC (Class 10) students,” said NeBA Secretary General Dinesh Thapa.

“The players from the previous talent hunt programs are now showing their skills and actively playing at the highest level of basketball in Nepal. Some of them are ready to represent Nepal at the senior level,” he added.

NeBA President and FIBA Asia Central Board Lama Tendi Sherpa gave away scholarship for the players for the year 2012 at a ceremony recently.
