Overwhelming win marks Lebanon’s debut
 
Lebanon made a sparkling debut in the FIBA Asia U16 Championship winning their Group B game against Ubzekistan 108-21 on Tuesday, but coach Joe Moujaes was hungry for more. “I think we did get a good start, but we can improve a lot in our offense,” Moujaes said.

Reda calms Lebanese nerves; Cedars closer to quarterfinals
 
Ghaleb Reda scored 12 of his18 points for the game at a crucial juncture to calm the Lebanese nerves and steer them to a 101-53 win against Uzbekistan in Group E on Wednesday. The win put the Cedars one step into the last eight, and only an improbable Malaysian win – by a sizable margin at that – against Chinese Taipei in the game that follows can stop them from making the quarterfinal play-offs.

Anna Kucheryavykh, the oldest player in the competition across all the teams here, struck from downtown with 4 seconds left on the clock to take Kazakhstan to a 62-61 win on Tuesday against Uzbekistan that left four teams locked on top of Level II. In another game, in a battle of the minnows, Singapore wavered in form but held themselves together when it mattered the most and eked out a 70-59 win against Sri Lanka.

Uzbekistan rout Turkmenistan, complete fray for Wuhan
 
Uzbekistan defeated Turkmenistan 82-59 in the only game of the “Stan” division qualifying tournament in Middle Asia and booked their place in the 26th FIBA Asia Championship to be played at Wuhan from Sept 15-25.
